Collective Worship Committee

THE PURPOSE OF THE COMMITTEE IS TO:

Evaluate the impact of collective worship on children and adults Develop children’s
leadership of collective worship To improve the quality and impact of collective worship for all at our school Who? Its members represent different groups in our school. There are seven children from years 3-6, two parents and governors and two staff. The committee is always chaired by a child.

WHAT HAVE WE DONE SO FAR?

We have decided on aims and purpose of our group. In our recent meetings we wanted to prioritise finding out what makes excellent collective worship. The group designed a questionnaire. There were two versions, one for lower school and one for upper school and adults. It explored what people enjoy and find most though-provoking in Collective Worship.
At the following meeting we completed the questionnaires with groups of children from each class. We used the results to publish a leaflet about what makes excellent collective worship in our school. We then demonstrated this in a series of acts of worship that we planned and delivered ourselves.

WHAT ARE WE DOING NOW?

We are currently working on the new expectations for collective worship. We have planned new themes based on our new set of school Christian values.
