9th June 2020
Letter from Mrs Bullmore
You will have heard today that the Government has announced that schools will not be opening to children in years 2, 3, 4 and 5 this academic year. We now await further guidance on what the implications are for schools re-opening in September. I advise families to hold off purchasing school uniform until we have further information.
Some children in our Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6, together with children of Key Workers have now completed their first week back in school. I am delighted to say that this has been successful and as always, our children are a credit to us.
The preparation and organisation for partial re-opening has been immense and I would like to thank all the staff for their dedication and commitment to enabling this to happen at the same time as supporting the continuation of home learning for all those children not in school.
As you will be aware, the children are in “Bubble Groups” of 15 children. Since opening on 2nd June some families have given their five days’ notice period to request that their child return to school. We now have to cap the Bubble for Reception children and children in Year 6 due to availability of staff and space to ensure social distancing.
We will review this situation at the end of the month. Therefore, from today if you have a child in Reception or Year 6 and you wish them to return to school before the end of this academic year, you will need to put this request in writing to the office email (firstname.lastname@example.org) for our consideration. However, we cannot guarantee that this will be possible. We are looking at the feasibility of children attending part-time should the demand for school places increase; however, this is not a route that we believe to be a best-case scenario.
Once again, thank you for your continued support and the amazing home-schooling that is taking place.
