8th September 2020
Welcome Back to a New Term
I trust that you have all been able to enjoy the summer holiday period and have managed to enjoy some of the amazing weather we have had and equally did not suffer with the torrential rain and high winds!
As we prepare to re-open the school to all children from Monday 7th September, I just wanted to take this opportunity to remind you of the following measures that are in place and all members of our school community must adhere to in order to keep everyone as safe as we can:
Staggered start and finish times:
Year 6: 8.40 am – 3.25 pm
Year 5: 8.45 am – 3.20 pm
Year 4: 8.50 am – 3.15 pm
Year 3: 8.55 am – 3.10 pm
Year 2: 9.00 am – 3.05 pm
Year 1: 9.05 am – 3.00 pm
Reception: 9.10 am – 2.55 pm
Nursery: 8.45 am – 3.30 pm
Following the outcome of our risk assessment, please prepare your children that some staff will be wearing face coverings throughout the school day.
Orbit Club: 7.45 am – 5.30 pm
If you have pre-booked your child into Orbit Club, please be aware that you will not be able to enter the school building. The same rules will apply as the beginning and end of the school day and children will enter and exit the school via the fire door in the school hall. We have had considerable demand for Orbit Club spaces. Please note that we will not be able to be as flexible with short notice booking requests, as the children will be looked after within their class bubble groups in the hall.
Just to remind you that we are not serving breakfast, however, children will be offered a piece of fruit at both Breakfast and After School club. Your child will need to bring their own water bottle.
Should you need to contact Orbit Club after school hours the mobile telephone number is: 07565180279 (Please note this number is only to be used in an emergency & not to book or change places).
Where you have children in more than one-year group please bring and collect your child at the earliest time and pick them up at the latest time slot.
To minimise people on the site, there must only be one parent per family accompanying their child to school
If your child comes to school on a scooter or bicycle, please collect this for your child prior to waiting in the line at pick up time. This will ensure the one-way flow of pedestrians out of school.
Please ensure your child has everything in a backpack that they can manage to carry independently. This will speed up the hand sanitisation process when entering and exiting school.
If your child is unable to manage buckles/laces on their footwear, please provide Velcro shoes/trainers.
It is important that your child always has a school jumper & coat with them as the classrooms will have the windows and doors open to ensure maximum ventilation and we will use the outside as much as possible.
Please also consider if your child can independently open the packaging in their lunchbox.
Wherever, possible children should walk to school, if you need to drive, please park on the roads adjacent to the school and not in the school car park with the exception of those families who need to make use of the parking bays allocated for people living with a disability.
Through the Trust, the school has been granted capital funding for a secure electronic gated system into and out of school. The electronic gate system is now to be installed during October half-term.
Just a reminder that on the day that your child has PE they need to wear their PE kit to school:
Monday: Neptune, Saturn and Venus (Please wear on Monday 7th September)
Friday: Jupiter, Mars and Mercury
If you have travelled abroad during the summer break, please ensure you follow the Government guidelines relating to travel corridors and quarantine regulations.
You will also be aware of the many traffic lights in town, please try your best to give enough time for your journey to school in order to assist with the staggered timings of the school day. We appreciate that this is not going to be easy for any of us.
Please ensure you have completed the following:
Medicine administration form if required
Walking home permission (years 5 & 6 only)
Year 6 are able to bring into school their own small bottle of hand sanitiser
If you have a message for a member of staff please email the school office and the message will be relayed, if necessary, the appropriate member of staff will call you. firstname.lastname@example.org
We very much look forward to seeing you all next week and once again thank you for your on-going support in these unprecedented times.
Sarah Bullmore (Mrs), Headteacher
