Mars Class Gillingham River Walk
On Tuesday 30th April, Mars Class walked into Gillingham to investigate the rivers as part of their topic, Flow. We measured the flow of the water and the depth and we took samples of the water to look for wildlife. We spotted small fish and pond skaters. We identified the Lodden, Shreen Water and the Stour. We are lucky in Gillingham to have three rivers! The children noticed meanders and different currents. We discussed floodplains too. We will use our knowledge of the local rivers later in the term.
